Catching up and one month stats

I'll skip the apology for not updating lately and get straight to the point...catching up.
We've been keeping ourselves quite busy lately.

First off, we went to our very first tree lighting in downtown Fairhope.  It was the cutest little event in the cutest little town.  They had a stage set up in the middle of dowtown that featured a choir and an orchestra singing/playing christmas music and of course, the town mayor gave a quick speech.  Did I move to Mayberry?? I think so...
Then, we all counted down to the lighting of the trees lining the streets of Fairhope and suddenly everything became bright, beautiful, and so very holiday happy. :)

I brought my camera but didn't take it out OF COURSE.  I know I've said this a million times but how do people with three kids take a picture!!??  So, I asked my other sweet friend (with 3 kids mind you) to take our picture and a big picture of the group.  Hmmm...I guess taking pictures with three can be done.  I'll need some advice.

We're not sure if the lady we asked to take the group picture has ever used a camera before....

We are so very thankful for these sweet new friends.

The day after the tree lighting we welcomed visitors for the weekend.  Steven's family came to spend a few days with us and Isaac was beyond excited to see and play with Rowen and Hudson again.  OF COURSE, I didn't bust out the camera but did manage to get one picture of CC with the gang.

On Saturday night our cute little town had a downtown movie showing of the Polar Express so Isaac and the boys went to that.  I was able to go for a little bit as well and to say it was the cutest thing ever would be an understatement.  Have I said the word "cute" enough yet??
Well it was.  Trust me.

And without further ado, our baby girl is now 6 weeks old!  I can't believe it.  In all the hussle and bussle I forgot to post her one month stats.  I did manage to take a few pictures of little Lillian on her one month birthday to have in the memory books.

She weighed in at 10 pounds 4 ounces and was 22 inches long.

Unfortunately she's been my hardest baby to date.  Stomach issues, fussiness, etc.  However...fortunately, she is a great sleeper at night when she finally does get to sleep.  She's been giving me two four hour stretches at night for a while now and my other two never did that.  I'm definitely thankful for that.  She's a great nurser...when her stomach isn't hurting her.
I know this difficult newborn stage is just a season.  A very quick season and I'm trying to enjoy it for what it's worth.  Who knows if this could be my last or not.  Plus, we have been blessed with this precious new addition and I am very very thankful.  It doesn't make it less hard but we have loved having her with us...and really can't imagine life without her now.

The past few weeks

Yep, we're still here.

All five of us.

I wish someone would have told me how hard it is to blog with three children.  Let me rephrase that, with two children PLUS a newborn.  Yes, the newborn is key.

We are flat out tired my friends.

I do feel as though I'm far less tired now then I was a week ago, so that's progress.  It's amazing how tough the first couple of weeks are with no sleep and a newborn, but after a while you just learn to deal with it.  Apparently your body just learns to cope with the lack of precious sleep.

Lillian will be four weeks tomorrow.  How time flies when you're having fun...ahem, I mean no sleep.
She's done some nice growing and plumping up.

And is becoming a little more alert...and less cross eyed. :)

She's had some rough stomach issues lately that are certainly not fun.  I wouldn't say she's a big spit-upper but I can tell her stomach hurts after she finishes eating in the mornings and at night.  I was certain she had colic the other night last week because she cried so hard off and on from nine to one in the morning flailing her arms dramatically and curling up into a little ball.  And yes, I was holding her the whole time!  I may or may not have been crying with her.  Those darn hormones.
But lately it hasn't been as bad so hopefully she's growing out of her newborn tummy issues.  I've never experienced this so it's all new to me.

Thankfully, the older kiddos are adjusting to her quite nicely.  Savannah is the most curious, always wanting to touch the baby and giving me sassy looks when she can't.

That is when she's not playing baby herself.

Do you happen to notice that nice bruise above her left eye?  Yep, she still enjoys climbing on things when no one's looking.
Her climbing and just plain getting into trouble-ness is super fun when I'm nursing.

She also likes to make this look at the baby.

Ah, the furrowed brow.  She's the queen of this look lately.

Brother is so sweet with Lillian and loves to "pet her head" and give her kisses.
I'm so thankful the transition has been a relatively easy one for both of them.

I had my first days by myself this past weekend.  I was so blessed to have help for two straight weeks with Lilly and then Steven was pretty much off a week after the mother's left.
Furthermore, I can't go without saying a BIG THANK YOU to my sweet mother in law who came to help us for a week after my mom left.  She was such a big help with the older kids!  I felt sorry for her because Savannah, Isaac, and CC all had colds that entire week so her time holding Lillian was rather limited.  But honestly the help she gave with the older two was the most needed.  I feel so blessed to have such an amazing mother in law!  Not everyone can say that.  I always enjoy my time with her.  So, thank you CC!!

We could not have done it without you!

Not only can I not believe that Lillian is four weeks old, but also that it is already November.  Seriously?  November?  Goodness, this year has flown.
We had a fun Halloween night and went trick or treating with a group of friends down here.  I wish I had gotten more pictures but gracious me is it hard to get your camera out with three!  No one warned me of that either.

However, here are the pictures I did get.

Savannah was quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen dressed as a chicken/rooster.  I thought a very fitting costume as well...as her hair can often look rather rooster-like.

Here she is with her friend Hollis.

I was surprised she kept her chicken hat on the entire night.  She wanted nothing to do with the stroller but just walked and waddled everywhere.
It was hilarious.

And in true Isaac fashion he was tired of trick or treating after three or four houses.  We think he was just scared of the dark and the costumes.  Perfectly understandable...I was the same way.  My mother still tells me the story of when I was Isaac's age and she picked me up from the church nursery and I saw an older lady walking towards us with big curly hair.  I start crying and screaming at the top of my lunges "BOZO!!  It's BOZO!!"  You know, Bozo the clown?  I was also scared of anything in a costume.  Still am kind of. :)

We've spent some time outside in our front yard enjoying the cooler weather.  The older kids love to get outside and quite frankly, me and my cooped up self do too.

These two have way to much fun together.

I asked both of them to look at me and smile but Savannah was having nothing to do with it.  So, I asked Isaac for a little help with Savannah's smiley face.

It didn't work too well.

I think Lillian likes to be outside too.

Poor baby has had a terrible case of baby acne lately.  I remember Isaac going through the same thing at this age.

As tough as these days can be, I am so thankful for my three babies.  I certainly don't want to take these blessings for granted.

And that's what we've been up these past few weeks folks.  Here's hoping it doesn't take me as long to update next time...
