Isaac's birthday

Little buddy had quite a full day on his birthday.
His birthday fell on a Sunday this year so before heading to church we celebrated with a great big cinnamon roll and a little lesson in candle blowing.

Here we are singing Happy Birthday to him.

He loved the attention.

After four years, Isaac has really never known how to blow out a candle.  Instead of blowing, it usually turns into just spitting.

So Daddy decided to do a quick lesson in the art of candle blowing before rushing to church.  After all, buddy had to be prepared for his little party at the end of the day.

By the end of the lesson he finally blew out the light and was extremely proud of his work.

Steven was quick to praise his valiant effort...

We headed to church after eating and waited to give little buddy his present until we returned.  Luckily he's still at the age where he didn't mind.

When we got home we made Isaac go inside while Steven prepared his birthday present for presentation.

Savannah insisted she come outside to help.

Daddy prepared the present and we quickly called him out to behold the toy in all it's glory...

It's...

a...

GATOR!!!!

He was thrilled with his new ride and immediatly took that bad boy for a spin.

He rode around with a stunned look on his face for a while.  Little buddy was completely surprised.  He never asked for anything really so I don't think he had a clue as to what he would get.

Savannah Banana didn't really know what to think either and was afraid to ride in it at first.
Who can blame her really.  I wouldn't want to drive with a kid in driver's ed!

He's been loving his new gator jeep this past week.  He loves to make believe and pretend he's going to the store, or his "house in the woods," or place our ADT sign in a different spot in the yard and call it a stop sign.

We loved celebrating this super fun 4 year old!!

Next up, his birthday party...

Four

How can it be that my sweet boy came into this world four years ago?

Four years.

That's the length it took my teenage body to get through high school.
That's the same amount of time I spent in college.
That's almost the same amount of time Steven and I were married before our son entered the world.

Isaac, you have been a true joy to our family and I say that with the most sincerity.

There is no one else like you.

You can light up the darkest room with one of your giant smiles.

You love to make people laugh with your funny voices and silly phrases.

You succeed often, because your Daddy and I always find ourselves chuckling at your hilarious personality.

You talk all the time.  No really.  All. the. time.

One of the worst punishments we can give you is to sit you in a time out chair and take away all speaking ability for a while.  I think you would rather do anything but that.

You are scared of many things...but that's okay.  I love this about you.  Your timid personality reminds me of my tiny one year old boy I once knew.

Your middle sister adores you...although you know the perfect ways to push her buttons.

She knows how to push yours too.

You love to sleep with three stuffed animals.  A momma dolphin, a baby dolphin, and a little killer whale.

You always ask for a treat after dinner.

I love for you to sleep in the bed with me when your daddy is working at night.

You have a beautiful imagination and you love nothing more than to listen to made up stories from daddy.

You always ask me to scratch your back at night before you drift off to sleep.
Sometimes when I'm scratching you say, "I love you mama," and this always makes my day.

Because I love you too my boy.

Love you to the moon and back.

There's just something about a mother and her son...something that cannot be explained.  A love that is so big it will make your heart burst.  A love that you would die for.

I love you my sweet sweet boy.
Don't ever grow up, okay? ;)
When I told him this the other day he said to me, "Mama, do you want me to go to Never land?"

HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY to my Isaac!!
I've loved you since the first moment I laid eyes on you.  January 27th, 2009.
Four years ago.

Meet the Fam

Hello again.

In my previous post I spoke of our after Christmas days with my family.  While on our visit, my mother was dying for a family picture of our clan as it isn't often we are all together.  So, I of course obliged and whipped out my camera for the occasion.  My youngest sister's boyfriend was nice enough to come over one morning and snap a few photos of all fourteen of us.  It's difficult to get a whole bunch of people to cooperate, especially with little children in the mix, but we managed.

I thought I should do a little blog post on my side of the family as I know most of you have never met them...and of course Steven's side will soon follow (so prepare yourself Sprayberry fam;) )

So, here we are.

Meet my fam.

Allow me a few moments to brag on them, shall I.

Meet my mom and Dad.

These little children in their arms are their grand kids.  They even have one more on the way in April.  Oh, not from me of course.  Whew.

My dad is an ER doctor in a college town and has been practicing medicine for 28+ years.  Yes, I suppose I'm living my parent's life all over again married to an ER doctor myself.
My mother was once a secondary school teacher teaching classes such as Chemistry and fancy sciences I don't really understand.  She stopped teaching when I was born, I'm pretty sure, and decided to be a stay at home mom.  I'm sure I was like three kids rolled into one. ;)  They met at Mississippi State in undergrad, were only friends at first, and then soon took a turn into romance.
Fun fact about my mother... in college she dated a very famous author for a few years.  I won't tell you who but I'll give you a few little hints.  He's southern, went to law school, and has been known to write legal thrillers...

Now onto the oldest child in our family.

Meet my oldest sister and her family.

Carla and I are one grade apart and shared a room for most of our childhood.  We eventually had our own bedroom and she so kindly stole my American girl doll Samantha from me because I was terrified she would come alive and kill me in bed...but that's another story for another day.
Carla went to undergrad at Ole Miss, majored in Political Science, and began dating J.B. her senior year.  After college she then went to law school at Alabama (can I get a roll tide?) and married J.B. the year before she finished.
After marriage and law school they moved north to Boston, MA where J.B. attended Harvard law school.  Yes, they are both smarty pants.
While J.B. studied Carla found a job and worked as a practicing attorney in the city.  After graduation they moved to New York City for a year so that J.B. could do a prestigious clerkship with a judge there.  It was here that Carla decided to leave her law degree and change her career to cooking enrolling at the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan.  Fun fact about Carla if you know anything about cooking...she cooked at a restaurant in the Trump Tower Hotel during school and cooked under famous dessert chef, Johnny Iuzzini.
After New York they moved back to Boston where J.B. worked, Carla had a baby boy, and then they decided to fly off to Pasadena for yet another clerkship for one year.  Now they reside in Washington D.C. and hope to stay there permanently as of now.  She's the one expecting in April.

Okay, on to the next child in line.

OH, that would be ME!

Ahem, since I'm not really into bragging about myself on this blog I'll skip to the third child.  Plus, you already know all that you could possibly want to know about us. ;)

So here's the third.

Meet my sister, Katie.

She's the cute short one in the green shirt.

Katie also went to Ole Miss for undergrad, even though I tried my hardest to persuade her to come to Bama after showing her a rockin' good time at a sorority party. ;)  But alas, she followed Carla's footsteps.
Katie majored in secondary education and English but ultimately desired to go overseas to the Middle East where her heart had been for quite some time.  Soon after college Katie joined an organization  for two years and traveled over to Eygpt, living there for six months learning Arabic.  I've never heard her speak it fluently but my parents went over for a visit and claim her Arabic is remarkable.  Which is quite impressive--apparently Chinese and Arabic are the two hardest languages to learn in the world as they play so much on unique tones.  After Eygpt she then moved to Amman Jordan where Katie worked at a gym, teaching the Jordan gymnastics team.  Katie was a gymnast throughout childhood so this was a perfect fit for her.  Fun fact about Katie...while she was there she coached Princess Rahma's daughter and had many a conversation with the princess of Jordan.  Pretty neat if you ask me.
After returning from the middle east she enrolled in the Kanakuk Institute for a year, living in Branson Missouri.
She is now located in Texas getting her degree in Arabic studies at a seminary there.  Isaac definitely misses his DD.

Okay, had enough of my family yet?
No?
Good.  I'm still going.

Meet the only brother of four girls.  Bless him.
My brother Cameron.

And his beautiful wife, Rachel.

Cameron went to undergrad at Auburn University.  The only child so far to stay close to home.  There he majored in Biology (I think?) and aspired to attend med school after.  My brother is one of the smartest people you will ever meet.  I would say he's the smartest in the family (GASP! Don't choke Carla).  After college Cameron received early acceptance to medical school at UAB and currently is enrolled in his second year there.  I can still remember the day that Cameron got accepted.  He and I flew out to visit Carla when she lived in New York City and we were shopping in Century 21 when he got an email alert on his iPhone.  Got to love technology folks.  He had a huge grin on his face and read the first line to me, "Congratulation, you are accepted...."  We all jumped up and down and gave plenty of sisterly hugs.  Immediatly after he ran outside to call his best girl.  Rachel.
Rachel also went to Auburn University and majored in speech pathology.  She practices in Birmingham schools while Cameron studies away.  We love Rachel and soon realized after meeting her that she was the best fit for our family.  Sweet and somewhat quiet.  Which is needed in our house with a bunch of loud mouth sistas! ;)
I've noticed that all my fun facts regarding my siblings feature someone famous in them.  I'm not really sure why, it's just what popped into my head.  So, I'm not sure if I have a fun fact on Cameron and a famous person...but I'm sure there's one soon to come.   So...fun fact about Cameron?  He's hiked down and up the Grand Canyon all in one day.  And if you've hiked the Grand Canyon, as I have, you know that's a real feat.  He'll tell you that it was a miserable experience ;), but it's still an accomplishment nonetheless.

Now last but not least...the baby of the family.

And boy is she a baby. hehe.  Just kidding Camille.

Meet Camille.

Here she is with her boyfriend Mark.

Camille started her undergrad at Alabama, you may remember, majoring in Communications...public relations I think?  She decided to transfer to Auburn University after one year.  She's a home body, that girl, and that's okay.  There needs to be one of those in every family!  I'm sure my parents are glad there is.  So she is now in her sophomore year of school majoring in...organic gardening??  Camille is going to kill me because that's not exactly the name of her major but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.  All I know it revolves around the management of farming/gardening.  This girl screams farmer doesn't she? ;)
She has a lot of college left to go and know she will have just as good of an experience as the rest of us did.  Hmmm...fun fact about Camille?  Let me think.  She once fell out of a tree in the middle of nowhere Africa and survived to tell about it.  I jest, but it was quite a serious fall when she was 7 years old and we really were in the middle of no where Africa.

So folks, that's my family.

Hope you enjoyed this little tidbit of knowledge of my crazy bunch and wasted a few moments of your life away reading.

Be back tomorrow.

Umm...instead shall I just say...

be back shortly.

After Christmas

So...I guess I don't keep my promises very well.  oopsy daisy.
My favorite reminder was from a text I recieved from my sister Camille which said, and I quote, "I see you've stuck to your new years resolution to blog everyday, you're as consistent as all those people who start going to the gym."  :)

So, let's pick up right after Christmas, shall we?

We left Fairhope on the 27th and traveled north to Auburn to see my family.  All five siblings were there Thursday night which was a real treat.  We celebrated Christmas by exchanging gifts and enjoyed one another's company into the late evening hour.
It turned out to be a very cold weekend while we were there, but that didn't stop the little ones from wanting to play outside.  I braved the chill in my pajama pants one morning and ran out for a few snapshots.

Football was the order of the day.

Dad didn't surprise anyone when he broke out his trusty ipad for pictures.

He's famous for ipad picture taking you see.

But, I must admit.  iPads do come in handy when you want to capture a very silly 3 year old's dramatic self.

If you need someone to make funny faces, I know a guy.

Miss Priss even braved the cold and enjoyed running around, keeping up with the boys.

She loves her DaDa.

Alright, that about sums up this post.
I'll be back tomorrow.

You don't believe me do you.  Why ever not!!?
