Isaac and I traveled with my family to their beach place in Panama City last week. We decided to forgo the club's and the famous beads at the "strip" to enjoy a relaxing vacation in paradise. ;) My parent's place is actually on the Laguna Beach side in the little location of Sunnyside Beach. Nice and quiet and perfect for families.
It was so fun watching Isaac experience everything the beach has to offer for the first time. Thankfully no evidence of oil yet but I heard it came after we left. Terribly sad...
We had great company and fellowship with my parents, my brother and younger sister, my aunt and uncle, two cousins, cousin-in-law, and cousin's son (just a few months older than Isaac). We were packed inside the condo but enjoying every minute! We definitely missed Dadda though. Unfortunately, Steven had to stay behind and work during the week.
Little buddy's first time on the sand was a hit.

Most of the time Isaac just wanted to be in the ocean. If it was because of the heat, I sure don't blame him. But I think he just prefers water and is your friend for life if you take him out in it. He enjoyed sitting on the shore with Pop and being splashed by the salty sea.

Although he did prefer the ocean, Isaac loved playing in the sand and didn't mind in the slightest when sand made it's way into hair, eyes, and mouth.

Now, if only we could teach him not to throw the sand...

By the time we went inside sand was pretty much in every crevis of his body. I'm sure you mom's can relate.

I don't think I realized how hard it is to get sand out of a child's hair. And speaking of difficulties...why do they make it so difficult to rub in baby sun screen!??

Isaac had fun getting to know his 2nd cousin Clayton. Every year when I was growing up my family would go with my mother's sister and her family to the beach for one week every summer. Fast forward twenty something years and now there are little babes once again on our beach adventure.
The boys would do lots together, from playing in the sand....

To eating together...

To giving kisses (don't worry dadda, mostly on the cheek)...

And playing the drums...
The boys thought it was hilarious to beat their hands on the ottoman as though they were professional drummers. It was cute to watch them interact and warm up to eachother throughout the week.

We ventured out to the beach one evening as the sunset was in all it's glory. I went to help take pictures of my cousin and his family and was able to get some quick shots of little buddy playing in the sand.

Even though I hadn't had a shower all day, I decided to take some pics of me and my little man. So, I braved the camera... I figure Isaac needs to have some type of tangible memory of my existence at the beach when he's older. Shower or no shower.

I love how his face is almost as big as mine in the picture. He's not a little baby anymore...sniff sniff
The men went on a little fishing trip early one morning and caught a whole range of fish. My favorite being....du dum....du dum.....du dum du dum du dumm du dumm du dumm....

Where's a nail when you need one?

We (meaning the men) cooked them the very same night which equaled pure fresh fish yumminess!!! It probably was the most delicious fish I've tasted in quite a while. I think that was my first time to eat shark and I must say, even Jaws was tasty.
We enjoyed spending time with my little sister, Camille. Even though I couldn't get as tan as she was even if I wanted to, we enjoyed laying out by the shore, swimming at the pool, and taking pictures. If you look closely you can see a certain someone in the reflection of her glasses doing just that...

Funny side note: We were watching the USA soccer game on Friday morning--what an exciting game that was!--and as we finished I happened to stumble upon a few familiar faces in the crowd. I couldn't believe I was seeing two girls that I taught at Bradenton Prep for three years when we lived in Florida smack dab in the middle. I mean seriously, is this a small world or what?

After the beach we said our goodbyes to Coco and gave Uncle Cameron a big birthday hug. Happy 22nd birthday Uncle Cam! Thanks for taking Isaac swimming in the ocean!!

We ended the week with a stop in the 'Cauge (as we like to refer to Sylacauga) with round two of class reunions. Steven enjoyed his time seeing old friends and classmates... and shakin' his tail feathers on the dance floor.
Okay, who are we kidding, I couldn't get Steven to dance even if I bribed him with a hand shake from Coach Saban himself.
Despite the no dancing admendment my husband wrote on our night out, we had great time and even stayed out until the wee hours of 2 in the morning.

To finish off, Isaac was thrilled to see Daddy at the end of the week. You couldn't wipe the grin off his face (or mine) if you wanted to.

Unfortunately, we missed Steven's birthday which was Monday, June 14th. It is his very last year as a twenty-something. He turned 29 in fact and as his cousin Brian says, "You old S, you old."
So, happy late birthday my wonderfully amazing best friend!! I love you with all my heart!
Next time....we go back to the beach with Daddy too.:)
Whew, what a long post for me.
Now, if you would excuse me, I just witnessed my one year old chowing down on dog food. Don't you just love when that happens.
