Party like it's your birthday

We celebrated Isaac's 2nd birthday this past Thursday night with friends and family at the greatest fast food resteraunt in the south.  Chickfila, of course!  Isaac loves the food, like most toddlers do, and loves the playplace...not to mention his mommy likes the food a lot too.

It was a pretty easy-to-throw-together party because I didn't have to clean my house before everyone came.  The only let down is that Birmingham chickfila places don't do anything for you so you have to get there early and reserve your own seats and set up your own decorations, etc.  Thankfully it really wasn't bad and surprisingly wasn't that crowded.

So without further ado here are his party pictures.  Beware! There are A LOT!

I did call to see if the chickfila cow could make his presence during the party, however, the lady told me that "they don't do the cow for personal parties and such" so I checked that off my list as a no.  But, to my surprise the manager told Steven when we got there that there were not many people around so he would put on the cow costume (that they just happened to have in the back) and come out for a sec.

Thankfully he didn't have a major meltdown...but I wouldn't say he was thrilled with the creature.

After dinner Isaac played his heart out in the playplace.

 Even his cousin Hudson enjoyed himself amongst the tunnels.  He was incredibly helpful in playing with Isaac and all the kiddos.

After a bit of play it was on to the Happy Birthday song and lighting of the candle.

He was a tad embarassed when everyone began to sing.

He wouldn't blow out the candle infront of the crowd but just stared at it with a little smurk on his face.  That stinker...

Whew.  I think that's about it.  It was such a fun party and perfect for our little 2 year old boy. Wow, two years old!!  He is so fun at this age...despite many challenging 2yr old day...but we have loved every minute with him.

Happy Birthday little buddy!!  We have so many fun things to look forward to this year!

How can this be?  It feels like yesterday we were at the hospital and you were born!

And then some time past by in blazing speed...and you turned ONE!

And now....
you are TWO!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our wonderfully precious son!  Who is incredibly dramatic, a loud screamer, lover of trains, paci napper, bunny foot rubber, mommy kisser, big smiler, contagious laughter, lover of cars, lover of mickey mouse clubhouse, chocolate graham cracker eater, apple juice guzzler, very ticklish, fast runner, and maniac thrower.

Toes in the sand

We got away for the weekend.  Without little toddler boys.  Without dogs to take out to potty.  And without work to do at home.  You could say it was incredibly relaxing and much needed.  Thanks to my parents for watching Isaac for the weekend and allowing us to stay in their beach house!! 

We traveled down to the beach with our friends and neighbors.  It's been fun getting to know them this past year.  What makes it even more fun is the fact that Christina is due with baby #1 about a week before our baby is due.

As you can imagine we did a lot of sitting around relaxin'...

We played Spades...

And beat the boys FINALLY...

We played tennis...

We ate out every meal...  

I sure won't be surprised if I go into my ultrasound appointment tomorrow and they find a donut wrapped around our child's head.

Funny story--on Saturday we ate at this little hole in the wall place right by my parent's house for lunch.  We had the usual heathy meal of burgers, onion rings, and french fries.  Once our food came Steven placed the ketchup bottle in his hand (the kind that squirts out), shook it up, and opened it.  All I heard was this nasty explosion squirty sound and looked over to see him covered...I mean covered..in ketchup.  He couldn't see out of his left eye due to the amount of ketchup that landed in it.  The following picture definitely doesn't do it justice but it was hilarious!  I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard.

We ate out again that night at a yummy seafood place.  Thankfully no exploding ketchup bottles...

We even got to see a movie that night!  A rare treat for people with children, as most of you know.  If you haven't seen "The King's Speech" it's a must.  Of course, I love anything British and with Colin Firth...my first crush from the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice.  Pleeeease tell me you've seen it!

 And we of course did a little walking on the beach.  It definitely wasn't lay out weather, but it was beautiful.

And last but not least, a great time was had with the hubs!

Now, for warmer weather so next time we don't have to wear fleece jackets on the sand!

Science really can be fun

Day long outings with daddy are few and far between.

But we'll take what we can get!

Last week we traveled to the McWane Center for Isaac to blow off some much needed toddler steam.  He had a blast as always...and I think Steven did too.

Isaac stayed forever at this one science gadget.  If you pulled the rope hard enough it would create a big gust of air and shoot a tennis ball up to the ceiling.  Who knew it could make him dance around and laugh so hard...

Next, the boys headed into the distortion room.

Okay, we knew our son was a big boy but he definitely exceeds our expectations. :)

We still can't believe he will be TWO next week.
