Bunny's Return
I'm sorry I've kept you all in such suspense. I'm sure you've been checking my blog every hour to see if I've written of Bunny's return. I mean, you really don't have anything better to do, do you? ;)
Well, yes...it is as I said on Wednesday, our dear old friend has returned to us. And we couldn't be happier!
Remember I lost him at a church when I had my car parked for Bible Study. Papa Spray had put Bunny on my car tire and I accidentally drove off forgetting all about him once I returned from my hospital run with a sprained arm.
This past Wednesday, a week after the incident, I had to miss Bible Study due to Isaac having a fever the night before. However, I received a text that morning (thanks Lindsey) saying "You will never guess who's here at Bible Study! BUNNY!!!" Of course I couldn't believe it myself and was over the top ecstatic. Me? Over the top? Never....
Apparently the lady that had taken me to the ER that morning found Bunny in her car this week. HUH? Okay, I know I have blonde hair and can be a little forgetful/flighty sometimes (okay, a lot) but I seriously cannot remember ever picking Bunny up from my tire and I'm almost positive I didn't walk back to the lady's car after we returned from the trip. I mean, I feel like I would have remembered picking Bunny up from my tire...
So that's the story Folks. Thanks for your sweet comments and sympathizing with me and our dear old friend.
Bunny did tell me he had some wild times alone....went to a Bunny Bar one night, played at a Toy Shop with some stuffed bears, saw a concert at the BJCC, and checked out the lion cubs at the zoo.
I suppose he realized how much he loves Isaac and came hopping back to us. Either that or the Lord gave us a little bit of grace and dropped Bunny in that sweet lady's car. I would definitely have to pick the latter.
Here's a little excerpt from the book "The Velveteen Rabbit" that I thought was very fitting for the occasion.
That night, and for many nights after, the Velveteen Rabbit slept in the Boy's bed.
At first he found it rather uncomfortable, for the Boy hugged him very tight, and sometimes he rolled over on him, and sometimes he pushed him so far under the pillow that the Rabbit could scarcely breathe.
But very soon he grew to like it, for the Boy used to talk to him, and made nice tunnels for him under the bedclothes that he said were like the burrows the real rabbits lived in.
And they had splendid games together, in whispers, when Nana had gone away to her supper and left the night-light burning on the mantelpiece.
And when the Boy dropped off to sleep, the Rabbit would snuggle down close under his little warm chin and dream, with the Boy's hands clasped close round him all night long.
The only toy who was kind to the Rabbit at all was the Skin Horse.
The Skin Horse had lived longer in the nursery than any of the others. He was so old that his brown coat was bald in patches and showed the seams underneath, and most of the hairs in his tail had been pulled out to string bead necklaces. He was wise, for he had seen a long succession of mechanical toys arrive to boast and swagger, and by-and-by break their mainsprings and pass away, and he knew that they were only toys, and would never turn into anything else. For nursery magic is very strange and wonderful, and only those playthings that are old and wise and experienced like the Skin Horse understand all about it.
"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept."
"Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
And so time went on, and the little Rabbit was very happy–so happy that he never noticed how his beautiful velveteen fur was getting shabbier and shabbier, and his tail becoming unsewn, and all the pink rubbed off his nose where the Boy had kissed him.
And once, when the Boy was called away suddenly to go out to tea, the Rabbit was left out on the lawn until long after dusk, and Nana had to come and look for him with the candle because the Boy couldn't go to sleep unless he was there. He was wet through with the dew and quite earthy from diving into the burrows the Boy had made for him in the flower bed, and Nana grumbled as she rubbed him off with a corner of her apron.
"Give me my Bunny!" he said. "You mustn't say that. He isn't a toy. He's REAL!"
When the little Rabbit heard that he was happy, for he knew that what the Skin Horse had said was true at last. The nursery magic had happened to him, and he was a toy no longer. He was Real. The Boy himself had said it.
(sniff, sniff) Excuse me while I get a tissue. Geez, I really know how to choke myself up.
More to come on Isaac's reaction to Bunny's return...
(My blogging life seems very exciting doesn't it? ;) )

A Visit
The kids and I went on a fast trip to Tuscaloosa this past Saturday to visit my grandmother, Meme. She was there visiting her brother who lives in Alberta City (right beside Tuscaloosa). I can still remember visiting my Uncle Darrell my freshman year of college--he would cook me an entire southern home cooked meal. His house was surrounded by beautiful oak trees including the entire neighborhood. The key word here is was. Alberta City was one of the hardest hit areas during the April 27th tornado so I was completely shocked to see his neighborhood today.
Unbelievable...
Uncle Darrell told me this looked really good compared to what it did look like.
Now the view from his front porch. I wish I had before pictures. That neighborhood up on the hill was one of the hardest hit, Darrell said. Tons of people living in trailers and new homes were killed.
My Uncle's backyard. It used to be shaded by giant oak trees...
Now he can see DCH Medical Center from his house.
Crazy.
Despite the heartbreak from the tornado aftermath we enjoyed seeing our Meme!!! She was able to finally meet Savannah.
Of course Isaac had to join in on the Meme love...
Darrell enjoyed Savannah as well.
And she him...
We loved seeing you both!! We will come visit you soon Meme in Jackson. Let's just tell the tornadoes to not follow us there this time. :)

Savannah Banana
Oh yes, did I mention she has poop explosions weekly?
Speaking of a pooper...
This guy continues to be our little mess.
He keeps us laughing that's for sure.
And speaking of messes. For those of you who are bunny fans...particularly Peter Rabbit bunny fans about six inches tall...I have some very very sad news to report. Very.
Bunny. THE Bunny that Isaac loves so much is sadly no longer with us. I suppose he checked my blog late one night and saw the last post I created regarding him and his life here in this house. It's kind of a long story but we left Bunny at the Sprayberry's house this weekend and I was supposed to meet up with Papa Spray to get Bunny from him this past Wednesday. However, things went crazy Wednesday morning as I was walking into Bible Study. I fell, had to go to the ER, thankfully no break in arm, just a severe elbow sprain, yadayadayada...and the next thing I know I'm telling Papa Spray to leave Bunny on the top of my tire so I can get it when I return. And wouldn't you know it but I FORGOT Bunny was on my tire!!!!!! I know, I'm still sick about it. I literally drove away for one minute, went back into the parking lot to find him and he of course, was no where to be found. I cried. Yes, I cried when we got home. Our afternoon nap conversation went something like this--
Isaac--Mommy I want bunny
Me--I know sweetie
Isaac--Mommy look for it!
Me--I know buddy, I am
Isaac--Look harrrder!
I was so sad. Still am really. I mean he was a member in this family. I know, I know, it may sound a little extreme but I don't care. I like to think bunny hopped away all happy like looking for a new home and new kid to love. Either that or he's in some dark hole somewhere crying for his beloved boy. I'm very optimistic aren't I.
So World, if you see a little Peter Rabbit bunny with a big hole in the left foot and smells like stinky toddler breath, it belongs to one little boy who loved him with all his heart. BIG reward for the finding of Bunny.
BIG people.

80 years and tummy time
This is Gaga. Not to be confused with Lady Gaga of course.
Steven's grandmother. Last week we traveled to Sylacauga for her 80th surprise birthday party. And boy was she surprised!
Gaga was completely shocked and cried after she realized the party was for her. She exclaimed "No one's ever thrown a birthday party for me before."
We enjoyed the festivities.
Bald heads could be found everywhere...
Isaac ran around like a wild man the entire time and went up to random older people he didn't know and jibber jabbered his way into conversation.
Here I am trying to get him to say Happy Birthday to Gaga but he proceeded by meowing like a cat. Typical these days.
He loves to get a good laugh out of people.
As we sang the birthday song to Gaga I heard her whisper under her breath, "oh, you are making me blush."
Here's the whole Sprayberry gang at the party...
Gaga's husband, Bill, welcomed his first great grandchild on the very same day as Savannah's birth. Here is Savannah and Brody sitting together on a chair. We marveled at how little Savannah looked next to him although this picture doesn't do it justice.
And speaking of Savannah girl.
She's growing like a weed...
She is usually a very happy baby except when it comes to tummy time.
Call it a second child but I have not given her adequate time on her tummy as of late. I've been a little preoccupied and still surviving day by day I guess.
We are working on it and she doesn't like it much...
She much prefers her back over any position.
Oh well.
It's a constant work in progress.
Happy Birthday to you Gaga!
And Happy Birthday to my Dad who shares the very same day as Gaga!
You don't look a day over... Chuck Norris. ;)
