Forensics, Carrie, Bama, and Haircuts
This post is a hodge podge of randomness so prepare yourself.
I'll start off with my Forensics reunion in Tuscaloosa a few weekends ago. For those of you who don't know, I was on the forensics team in college. And no, I know what your thinking. We never studied dead people or tried to figure out a difficult murder case... Forensics is actually a word for our SPEECH team. I had the priviledge of being on the speech team for three years in college and had a blast doing so. Our coach is retiring after 39 years at U of A so some of us came back for a little surprise party. It was so special catching up with old friends...
These are the people that I spent hours on the van with driving to tournaments and spent many of my college weekends together.
There was an assortment of alums there that I didn't know from years past and years after me. But it was so good catching up with some of my old team mates!
I also enjoyed spending time with my best forensics buddy, Allie, who was also a bridesmaid in my wedding. I haven't seen her since my wedding day six years ago!!
After my reunion, I headed to Nashville for a girl's trip a few days later to visit our friend, Jessica. These girls have been in my life since high school and we've remained four peas in a pod to this day.
One of the highlights on our overnight trip was going to see Carrie Underwood! The concert was a blast and I thouroghly enjoyed belting out "before he cheats" and many other familiar tunes at the top of my lungs.

That little rock star even suprised us by singing on the back of a pickup truck flying over the audience.
I took my two sisters, Katie and Camille, to Alabama this past weekend. Katie just came back into the country after being gone for two years and she had never met Isaac until about a week ago. It's GREAT to have her home! It was homecoming week and we were playing Ole Miss (Katie's alma malter) so there were lots of friends to see and things to do. We could not have asked for a prettier day!
I enjoyed showing Camille (who is a senior in high school) around the campus.
I think I came close to convincing her she has to be an Alpha Chi...

Wouldn't she just make a darn cute one?

I guess you could say the girls were pretty impressed with the stadium.

Well, guess who got his first haircut this week?
Yep, you guessed it. Little man himself.
And wouldn't you know it, I completely forgot to take my camera with me!
Needless to say, it was a little tramatic for baby (and mommy). On the ride home Isaac fell asleep in the back. Steven was driving and I glanced back at my sleeping boy, only to find that he didn't look a like a baby anymore. I began to cry and I'm not a crying kind of gal.
Now my little baby is trapped inside a toddler boy's body, I thought...sniff, sniff.

Thankfully, Isaac likes his new doo. He gave the new haircut two thumbs up...or should i say two big toes up.

But Steven and I haven't forgotten what our little boy looked like before.
RIP sweet mullet... don't fret, I'm sure we'll be seeing your long tresses again real soon.

The Great Smokies
Steven had a little vacation time this past week so we packed our bags and headed as a family to the great smoky mountains. It was a fast trip but we had a ball.
We stayed in Pigeon Forge for two nights and enjoyed a stroll around Gatlinburg the first day.
On day two we loaded up the car again and traveled an hour away to Cades Cove. I grew up going to Cades Cove. It's an eleven mile loop in a beautiful valley surrounded by the Smokies. They have old cabins and churches from settlers in the past that are free for walking through. You can either choose to drive this loop or bike it. We chose the latter.
The weather was a little cooler than we would have liked. It may have hit 60 degrees that day but we're still not certain. Don't worry, we made sure little buddy was "snug as a bug in a rug" on the back of the bike.
Despite the cold weather, he truly loved it! But I wouldn't go as far to say he loved his helmet...
Thankfully, he got used to the helmet and oversized gloves after a few minutes. All was good.
I literally almost fell off my bike from laughing when I saw this adorable sight. Bless his squished up face's heart.
Back on the bike we decided the weather really was quite chilly. I decided to put a hat on little buddy for warmth but the helmet wouldn't fit on top. So, we opted to be bad parents and let him go without a helmet the rest of the way. As you can see he enjoyed this much better.
No really, I promise he enjoyed himself despite his grave appearance. :)
We enjoyed a nice picnic lunch at the half way point. By then the sun was out in full force and Isaac had a ball running through the field and throwing his sippy cup at a nearby tree.
We stopped at a few cabins along the way. As you can see, Isaac was more mesmerized by the gravel road than the 150 year old structure in the background.
Like I said, Isaac took pleasure in the rocks most of all.
Of course curiosity gets the best of us all and sometimes you have to break for a rock snack.
I should have gotten a picture of Steven fishing them out of his sharp teethed mouth.
As you can see by the end of our journey we wore little buddy out...
Oh, if you were concerned about bunny at all and wondering if he enjoyed the trip have no fear. He was delighted to ride on top of a bona fide hummer in the warm comfort of our hotel room.
