Summertime

I've got so much to update you on but so little time (especially when my picture downloading is super duper slow).

We just returned from a few days at the lake and I've got plenty of pictures to spare, and I'll be back to share them soon.

However, I can't leave quite yet before I show you who's walking these days...

Yep, Itty Bitty herself.

We've been thoroughly impressed.

And so has brother.

We'll be back...

Settling in

Happy 4th from Fairhope!

This blog post is way overdue.  Honestly I haven't had much time for anything these past few weeks so I'm afraid picture taking and blogging have taken a back seat.
Why didn't someone warn me that moving to a whole new town with two kids and one on the way would be just a wee bit stressful??
Oh, you didn't want to worry me?  I see.  Well, I suppose I thank you then.

Yes, moving with two kids has been cah-razy to say the least.  Thankfully the move was a success and we made it down south in one day loaded and unloaded by 10:30 p.m. last Monday night.

Here's our Birmingham house all packed and ready the night before.

I shutter to think about the moving day again.  Both kids slept in our room the night we rolled into town because our bed was the only one set up--Savannah in a packnplay in our closet and Isaac on an air matress by our bed.  I didn't get much sleep that night, tossing and turning waiting for the dawn to break.  And break it did with the kids getting up at 6 a.m. the next morning.

I would definitely say it took a good loooong week to settle into our humble abode.
Things are different here in this house.  For instance...I found out the morning after we arrived that we were renting from the most popular roach motel in Fairhope.  I kid you not.  And I. hate. roaches.  Who doesn't really?  They are nasty, nasty creatures.  I went to make pancakes a few mornings later for the kiddos and found a nice giant roach about the size of my middle finger eating off one of my clean dishes in the cabinet.  I wanted to give him the middle finger...but instead I just screamed and called for my trusty husband to dispose of the filthy beast.  The next day you better believe we had someone come and spray the house.  And do you know, through a lot of chemical spraying and PRAYER I haven't seen really any roaches here as of late.  Ahem, excuse me while I go knock on some wood real quick.
Thankfully Steven always has an optimistic attitude and reminds me that things could always be worse.  And he's right.  So, I suppose this could be a long year in roach motel...but I'm trying to be thankful for what I do have.

So, back to Fairhope.  Thankfully our good ole' roach villa hasn't tainted my view of the area and we are slowly getting settled into our new town.  We know it will take a while.  We are learning where everything is and how long it takes to get certain places.  One thing we have loved is the fact that it doesn't take us more than 10 minutes to get most places around here.  It takes us 2-3 minutes to get downtown, 6 minutes to get to church, 6 minutes to go to the grocery store, 8 to get to Walmart, and 10 for Target and Chick fil A (ya know, all the necessities in life ;)).

I haven't gotten my camera out really at all, but I did manage to break it out last night for the annual Fairhope 4th of July event down by the bay.  The Baldwin Pops performed a concert by the pier and then we enjoyed fireworks at 9p.m.

Poor Savannah had a fever the entire day so we loaded her up with Tylenol and Motrin before heading to the festivities.  She was pitiful and managed to fall fast asleep on my chest as the fireworks began, fever and all.

Here we are preparing our walk to the concert.

We found a perfect little place to set up "camp" when we arrived but later moved across the crowd to sit with friends and watch the fireworks.

Why is it so hard to get a picture with two babies??

Hmmm...could it be because this baby is a character?

I would say so.

My poor sick baby was such a trooper.

Steven finally starts his job tomorrow and I think he's ready.  Two weeks sitting around the house, unpacking, and hanging pictures for his beloved wife has been quite enough for him I think.

We look forward to the weeks ahead and have some fun things planned.  I'll be sure to take the trusty camera along for the journey and do a better job of blog posting.

So, until next time my friends...

Adios.

Oh yes, I'm sure the roaches would want me to tell you goodbye as well. Pity I don't have a picture of them....

Moving

I wish I had pictures to post but alas, it's a little crazy here at our house.  Steven and I have been busy packing away these last few days while the kids are with grandparents and it's been quite the project.  I didn't realize how much more one will accumulate with each new child born--it's nuts really.

The movers come tomorrow morning to load the truck and then we head down south to Fairhope-- finally.  We can't believe the time has come!  I have plenty of pictures and stories to share when I finally update the blog again when we arrive...everything from Steven's master bedroom bed project to goodbye parties...I'll have it all. ;)

We will miss Birmingham, but mostly our friends. Thankfully we know it's not goodbye for most of them but instead, we'll see them soon.

We look forward to the journey ahead....

To be continued....in Fairhope.

Cameron's Wedding

I'm behind on my blogging again...but I think for very good reason.  We move in two weeks and to say I've got lots to do would be the understatement of the century.
In fact, I probably shouldn't even be updating this blog right now and instead, walking myself over to the empty boxes in my garage for some much needed packing.

Oh well, I'll get to that eventually.

So where did I leave off last?  Ah, yes.  Savannah's birthday.
The actual day of Savannah's birthday we were in Auburn with the entire family preparing for my brother's wedding.  Steven graciously watched the kiddos as I went to the bridesmaid's luncheon that morning and then that evening we both went to the rehearsal dinner.

My sister Carla (you may remember her from blogs past...you know, lawyer turned baker?) flew south a week early.  She had the important, and stressful, job of baking the wedding cake for my brother that week and it was definitely a week long affair.
We didn't get to Auburn until Friday but we enjoyed watching Carla finish up the cake.

I helped just a teeny tiny bit in the placing of the fondant.  But just a teeny bit.

At last, the moment came when we had to transport it to the reception site.

As you can tell, the guys were beyond thrilled with my picture taking...

And J.B. looked thrilled to be holding the bottom of the cake...

But alas, they made it.  And Carla had to leave after wedding pictures right before the wedding to put the whole get up together.

Speaking of wedding pictures and the wedding...the ceremony was beautiful.

Here is a picture of my brother with all his sisters.

I think Cambo would admit that being the only boy for all those years was difficult but served him well in the long run. :)  Surprisingly dressing him up in tutu's as a child didn't affect him one bit.

The reception was great too and located in a giant barn located right next to a pretty little pond on campus.  And of course Carla's cake turned out beautiful!

Here is the sweet couple joining the party for the first time.

Rachel looked gorgeous and I loved her dress!  All the girls are excited to be getting a new sister in the famly--not to mention she kind of looks like us. We joke that she and Cameron look just a like.

I tried to take my camera out as much as possible but it was a busy night talking to friends and family.

Looks like my dad was busy snapping pictures as well.

Savannah went to my parent's house with a babysitter after the first twenty minutes of the reception...but little buddy stayed with us the entire night and did remarkably well I might add.  He enjoyed playing outside and rolling down the big grass hill with his cousin.  Those grass stains were fun to get out let me tell ya.

The mother/son dance of the evening.

Me and Dad.

My beautiful Meme and Aunt Debbie...

I loved catching up with my childhood best friend and freshman roommate, Jordan.  I haven't seen her in ages.

And of course, catching up with these girls always makes for a fun times...

Like I said, Isaac did excellent at the wedding.  However, that doesn't mean toddler delirium didn't set in towards the late evening hours.

As you can see, the early stages were beginning to take root in his body...

All in all, it was a wonderfully perfect night for a perfect couple!

We were all sad to see it end...including this delirious kid.

I'll be back soon.
Wish me luck on packing.  I'm going need it. :)
