Isaac went to the lake this weekend and I was able to get so much done before this baby comes. He's had a blast, I've heard, so I don't think he was missing us much. Not to mention, it was so refreshing to have a few date nigths with Steven both Friday and Saturday night. I always forget how strange it is to go out to eat without a child...you can actually enjoy your meal and not eat in a matter of 10.4 seconds. Heaven. We even went to the dollar theatre just like old times.
So like I said I was able to get lots done, from running errands to get last minute baby items, to cleaning the house, to finishing up Isaac's big boy bedroom.
So without further ado here is little buddy's NEW ROOM.
The bed was an old bed from the Sprayberry's lake house. I just put a fresh coat of paint on it and decided to paint it a nice shade of red. I was very pleased with how it turned out. It's amazing what a fun paint color will do to an old piece of furniture!
I got his blue bedspread at Khols with a giftcard so only ended up paying $2.49. Nice. Plus my thrifty husband was oh so proud of me. The throw pillow came from Home Goods. Love that place.
We had to invest in some curtains for the room because as you can see the window lets in too much light for a sleeping toddler. I just went with a simple white from Bed Bath and Beyond. We had to get the extended version. Funny story--I had to convince my husband with LOTS of begging to let me get the 120 inch curtains. You see, the top of the window to the ground is 114 inches and Steven wanted to get the 108 inch curtains to save $20. He didn't care if they were a foot off the ground... ;)
I won.
Here are a few pictures I painted for the room. These are all the trasportation objects that Isaac LOVES. Trains, tractors, and trucks.
Here is a really fun side table that my mom got for me. I didn't even have to paint it (thank the Lord).
I decided on shutters for behind the bed because the wall is so incredibly high. It needed something. I just spray painted those suckers and ended up painting a very simple monogram on paper and stuck it in a cheap frame.
And last here's a picture that I stuck in the matching picture frame. Seems like yesterday he was born...
I just noticed that I'm too lazy to take the price sticker off. ;)
So, there's his room. On the other side of the wall is a dresser and his changing table but I forgot to take a pic of that.
He's loving his room too and I'm so glad.
Things are finally, finally coming together around here. This nesting mother can sigh a bit of relief...
