Baby pools and the first hold

So far we are surviving with two little ones.  It's a transition for sure but one we are getting used to.  When I get overwhelmed I just have to tell myself..."just think about the duggars, just think about the duggars..."  and then I smile and am even more grateful with just two children around the house. And if you don't know who the Duggar's are there's really no use in explaining. All you need to know is they have 19 kids...

Savannah really has been a good little baby.  She's had her days and nights mixed up for the past week or so but thankfully is getting the concept of sleeping at night.  She is a tiny little thing.  So much more petite than Isaac was at this age.  But that's the way little girls should be I guess.

Isaac is slowly warming up to her.  We definitely can't leave them by themselves in a room (which I know is a given) because he's not the gentlest person with her.  Let's just say his idea of touching her is more like a hard poke to the body.  I've already warned her that this is only the beginning of having a big brother to live with.

We continue to keep big brother occupied so he recieves good attention and such.  Just the other day his cousins came over to play with him in a baby pool in the backyard.  He LOVES playing with them and I love how tired out he gets. :)

He refuses to take off his shirt.  For what reasoning I'm not sure.  I keep telling him it's far less chilly to have the wet shirt off but he's not buying it.  You pick your battles, right?

What did little bitty do while he played you ask?
Oh, she did what she does best.
Sleep...

Yesterday was a big day for Isaac because he finally held Savannah for the first time.  Well...the term hold is relative.  She layed in his lap you could say.

I just love this next one.  It looks like she is caressing his little face.  ...either that or just trying to save herself from toddler drool...

And eventually the toddler hand goes up...

And a little higher....

Good.  The hand comes down on the toe.

I spoke too soon.  He just can't help but pat her head.  Pat her head rather forcefully.

Alrighty then, the holding session is now over.  See what I mean? :)

Speaking of holding.  Isaac's bud Ry Ry and his mommy came over to play for a bit yesterday and hold Savannah.  Isaac was so happy to see him.  Really he was. Don't judge by his bored face.

That wraps up things for now.  You may be asking yourself, how does this girl get the time to blog with a newborn at home?  Well, I find myself feeling a little cooped up during the day (as expected) and my little outlet is this blog to the outside world you could say.  I know I won't be feeling trapped at home for long so I'm trying to enjoy this time with my precious little ones.  So far, I really have.

Thank You

A HUGE thank you to my mother.  She left today.
I'm on my own.
Well...not technically.  Steven is off for a while and I am so thankful!!

Thank you Coco for sacrificing more than a week of your life to come and care for us!  The cooking, cleaning, long night rocking, and love will not be forgotten!

We love you!

We are making progress

Making progress in the sibling bonding that is.  Big brother still isn't to the point of holding baby sister yet.

But he sure does like to touch her....

And touch her head...

He, of course, is beyond thrilled with his progress

And Savannah is thrilled as well.  Can't you tell?

Also, I've had to remember I have TWO babies in the house that need their mommy...

This baby...

And this baby...

And one last picture of sleeping beauty...just because. :)

Just a few pics

We got big brother back yesterday and it's been so good to have him home.  Although I am beginning to wonder how people survive with two children once their mother goes home...  I guess I'll soon find out.
I am on a mission to get a good candid of Isaac and Savannah together.  So far he's told the baby to "go bye bye" and "no sista."  Ha.  Don't worry, he has had his sweet moments with her.
Well, I need to get to bed.  A certain someone needs me every 3 hours tonight....

The Birth

Thank you friends for all the sweet comments and again, prayers.
I can't really get into much detail over our need for prayer but basically Savannah had a few complications after delivery.  Ultrasounds were taken to look at her organs and bloodwork was drawn on our sweet baby.  Thankfully the Lord answered every prayer we prayed--we have been learning that God is SO GOOD in the good times and yes, even the bad times.

As promised, here are more pictures from sweet Savannah's birth.  I went in for induction on Wednesday morning at 6:30.  It was a slow process.  Not the labor but the fact that they started me on pitocin later than we thought.  After they started me on pitocin and the doctor broke my water things began to speed up.  The contractions were much more mild this time than my delivery with Isaac which was a huge blessing.  Once I was at 10 cm and started to push I pushed for maybe 15 minutes and little girl popped out at 1:45p.m.

Steven and I had such suspense going into this because we didn't know the sex and I'm so glad we waited.  It really was such a fun surprise!!  The nurses were all guessing beforehand and everyone had their predictions.  Steven and I would have been thrilled either way, of course, but I think he was secretly hoping for a girl. :)

I was super sleepy that morning due to getting no sleep the night before.  Here we are settling into the room...

Isaac was able to spend some time with us that morning while we waited for me to reach that perfect dilated number.

He enjoyed plenty of new toys from the grandparents.  He was so sweet that morning because he would continue to look at me and say, "Mommy, up, up."  He didn't understand why I was sitting in that big bed the entire time. :)

Here I am right after Savannah came into the world.  (double chin and all. ha)

They immediately layed her on my chest so I could get some great bonding time.  Our precious Savannah looked a lot like her big brother to me.  She weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 19 inches long.

Isaac looked so big to us after baby sister was born, just like people told us he would.

This picture is for Lauren Roberts (hehe), who knows how much I "love" hats with big bows on infants. ;)  (no offense to people who do like that)

Savannah even gave a gift to her big brother that day!  He was of course thrilled.

And last, here are a few pictures of the day after Savannah's birth.

And finally, here are a few pictures of Savannah this morning.  She is so tiny!!

We get big brother back tomorrow.  We can't wait to have him home!!!
