My living baby doll

Savannah girl is 6 weeks old today.  It sure is hard to believe that she has lived with us this long but then again it seems like she's always been here in a way.  In a small way...I can still remember what a full nights sleep feels like. ;)  She is growing up so quickly.  Isaac is getting very comfortable with his baby sister, sometimes a little too comfortable.  Like today when I was nursing he got overly excited, ran as fast as he could, jumped into the chair and kissed her on the forehead.  Except this wasn't really a kiss, just a hard chin butt.  The infant AND toddler crying immediately began.  Oh these days are never boring...

I dressed up my living baby doll today and decided to take a few pictures.  I don't want to forget this stage and her precious little self.  I took a bunch but only got a few good ones.  Most of the time there was a certain little someone playing with certain little cars in all my pictures...

I love this one with her little hand by her face.

Clearly I never knew how much fun it was to dress up girls.

Introducing...

                          Owen Francis Ward

My precious new nephew!

Carla had Owen on Saturday morning, July 9th.  He was 6 pounds 5 oz and 19 inches long.  She went into labor three weeks early at exactly 37 weeks.  Apparently Owen was ready to come into the world!

I am DYING to meet him.  Not sure when I'll be able to seeing as they are in Boston and all but soon enough I hope...
Savannah sure is thrilled to have a cousin so close in age!  And I'm sure Owen and Isaac will have plenty of fun times together as well.

Congratulations Carla and J.B.!!  We love you Owen and can't wait to hold you!

It's rare...

but she really does open her eyes.

Sometimes.

I remember Isaac being so different--he constantly had his eyes open.  But I guess that's what makes each and every baby special and unique.  The little differences.

It has also taken me five and a half weeks to realize that she prefers to sleep bundled up really tight in her swaddler for nap times.  Isaac hated to be bundled.  Again, the differences.

Isaac rarely spit up after feeding.  I really can't remember more than two times when he did.  His sister on the other hand...a lot different.  If you don't get a good burp out of her right after or hold her upright for a while she is destined to spit it right back up.

Isaac would also lay still and nap for long periods of time.
This girl, not so much.  She squirms and squirms and squirms and stays awake far more than he did.

But they do have one thing in common I've noticed...

they are both my sweet babies... :)

Book Recommendation

I'm really not sure how I've found time to read, but I have.

If you are looking for a book that you simply can't put down I've got one for you!  "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand.  It's been out since 2010 so some of you may have already read it.  But I'm here to tell you it's a MUST read!  A beautiful, beautiful story.  I really can't say enough about it.
Thank you to my parents for the recommendation.

So there.  Now you know about the book if you didn't already.  Go read it.  No really, get in your car right now and go get this book!!!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy (late) 4th everyone!

Those who know me well, know that I LOVE some 4th of July.  Definitely my favorite holiday second to Christmas.

We spent the weekend at the lake and enjoyed soaking up the HOT sun and doing a bit of swimming.  The only downside to the trip was the fact that I took my camera out maybe two or three times our entire stay.  As relaxing as it was I find myself continuing to stay in "survival mode" with a newborn and rested when I wasn't keeping watch over the two babes.  I did have plenty of help though which is always a blessing.

So in no particular order here are a few pictures of our weekend.  We spent most of our days in the lake or resting on the outside porch but on the morning of the 4th we headed to a friend's lake house for a quick 4th of July get to together.

Like I said, not many pictures...  But at least I took some for the memory books.

Now off I go.  Got me a screaming baby in the background needing a mommy. :)

Booyah Daddy!!

Isaac hasn't been wearing many jon jons of late.  The reason?  Daddy. Hates. Them.  I on the other hand think they are adorable. I've had three or four in little man's closet this summer just waiting to be used.

Well...when the Daddy's away, the mommy will play.
I decided to just see if one of the jon jons would actually fit his growing two year old body and asked him to just put it on for mommy real quick like.  And he did.

The minute I put it on him do you know what he did.  Well, I'll tell you.
He looked down at the cute little romper one piece and said,

"Mommy...Diss cute.  I LIKE diss."

Of course you do buddy, of course you do.

*For those in the "older generation" who don't know what booyah means it is as followed.
Booyah is an exclamatory statement, often said when someone is extremely overjoyed. Often people do a hand movement simultaneously as they say 'Booyah'(clinching fist and thrusting their elbow downward vertically)

So Booyah to you Daddy!  You heard me, Booyah.  (said as I'm clinching my own fist and thrusting my elbow downward vertically...)
