6 months old!

LOOK AT ME! I'm half a year!

I took Isaac to his 6 month appointment today and he checked out beautifully..besides the major crying fit that consumed him after his 4 shots. But, thats to be expected.
6 month stats:

Weight: 19.3 pounds (80%)
Height: 27.5 (90%)
HC: 17.25

Here are a few pictures I took of us in the room waiting for the doctor. Please excuse how grotesque and sweaty I look. I promise I do take showers....

Before the shots....one happy baby

Here are a few pictures I have taken lately of what we've been up to.

I have gotten into making baby food and to be honest, its actually been pretty fun. Its easy and I know that my boy is getting the necessary nutrients that he needs. All you need is...

fruit of course. And a something to steam them in.

a blender

a book telling you how to do it (if you are like me)...thanks CC for let me borrow this

and finally...ice cube trays. just freeze and use when baby is hungry.:)

And last, but not least, little Ryder McMakin was born last week and we were so happy to finally meet him! We can't wait for Isaac and Ryder to room together at Alabama just like their daddy's did. Sorry, you see more of me then him in this picture but its the only one I have!

No picture post

So, like the title reads, there are no pictures in this post...i like pictures better than long drawn out stories. (no offense to anyone's blog:) ) I haven't really been taking pictures lately of Isaac--shame on me! We have been so busy lately...with what I'm not sure.

Isaac turned 6 months old Monday. Half a year. Wow. As I say every month he grows older---time flies. Especially when your having fun.:) And I am having so much fun with my little man. He has developed such a personality that shows off, already, such a strong willed little boy. Plus, he is so very strong for a little 6 month old...and its not just me that thinks it. Most people that hold him are like, "wow, he's strong." (just thought i would throw that in there if you needed convincing.:) ) He is grabbing everything in sight so I have to remember to push my dinner plate back on the table when he is sitting in my lap during supper. He talks non stop. Doesn't say any phrases yet.....but, i'm sure he will be saying mama any day now. (wink, wink)
I take him to his appointment on Tuesday with shots and everything so i'll know more about our little football player and his stats. I used to hate when people would write their baby stats down on their blog...but now I'm so glad I have because I like to go back and look at them to see how much he has grown. I definitely would have forgotten them if I hadn't. So, sorry for all the people that I have judged...

I have been working this entire week at a drama camp and its been pretty fun and easy. My mom stayed with Isaac for the first two days then Steven's mom came the other two days. Steven has been working nights the whole week but has the weekend off so he can watch him tomorrow. Steven is really enjoying ER medicine and I don't feel like its been a huge transition for me to get used to. I guess its good that my dad was an ER doctor so I know what to expect with scheduling and such. Funny how God works...marrying a man that has the same job as my Father.

Anywho, I'll update with pictures really soon! I think I hear Isaac getting up from his nap... back to motherhood.:)

5 months

So, this post is a little late but I know I would be really upset with myself if I forgot to talk about my sweet baby boy and his 5 month birthday. I want to use this blog as a scrapbook for myself, like so many mothers do, and that is why I am trying to keep up with the months.

Like the title of the post reads, Isaac is 5 months old. It is always hard to believe when he turns one month older...where does the time go?? seriously! I was rocking him tonight before I put him down to sleep and thinking that his half birthday is almost here and if it has gone this quickly so far...he is going to soon be one, then two, then three, then TEN!! and on, and on, and on. Now I know why mothers get so emotional when their child graduates, gets married, etc. You just can't believe how fast they grow up! sniff, sniff.

I know I say this all the time, but he really does continue to be more fun by the day. Some things he can do now are:

--roll over both ways (It is very nice he can do this now, but then again it gets kinda annoying
because I have to watch him more carefully these days)
--sleeps through the night (well, actually he just started doing it THIS week. Let's hope it stays.
I'm not getting my hopes up yet. I put him down at 8 and he wakes
up around 5:30. I know some of you are thinking... 5:30!!!! But this
is glorious to me!
--his face lights up when he hears me or daddy
--likes the first 5 minutes of "Praise Baby" but then just gets scared when they show anything
with a bright neon color on the screen. Strange I know.
--Still LOVES LOVES LOVES his bath time. I bathe him every night for a little night time
routine in his life. I highly recommend this to new mothers.
--he is teething like crazy!
--he likes to claw our faces off when we hold him or bite into our shoulder. not because he is
being mean :) but because he can't sit still for a moment and likes to grab things with those
nails.

Steven started his residency this past week. He worked Wednesday night and works tonight as well. I would post a picture of him leaving the house on his first day with his monogrammed scrubs on....buuuttt, his exact words were, "The ONLY way you can take this picture is if you promise not to put it up on that blog of yours." So, sweetie dear...I have kept my promise and I invite everyone to imagine in their heads what Steven were to look like when trying to leave for work in a hurry and me stopping him to take a picture. Maybe he will let me post it one of these days.:) :)

Here are a few pictures of the love of our life! I thought I would do a little tribute to Alabama while I was at it with all the elephants in the pictures! Isaac is SO ready for football season. I think he has already saying his first words...I heard him from the crib the other day saying something like "Sossin." I think he was trying to say "Saban."

hehe

The many faces of Isaac....

We love you so much little buddy and couldn't imagine our lives without you!!!

Feeding is difficult...

...especially when you have a baby that wiggles all the time. Steven caught this on video today and I think it's priceless.

Does anyone else think I will have my hands full when he starts crawling!???:)

4th of July

We had a great time at Lake Martin this weekend celebrating the 4th. I'm such a dork when it comes to the 4th of July...I could sing patriotic songs and hold an american flag in my hands while watching the Boston pops all day long. :)

Isaac was a little fussy due to his teething but all in all we had a fun time. I went skiing for the first time in forever. It took me about six times to finally get up but I'm proud to say I accomplished it...despite the fact that I can hardly get my shirt over my head because my arms are so sore. My lower back felt like it was on fire too. hmmm...i guess it's time to start working out some...

Steven starts his first shift of residency on Wednesday. I know things are going to get a lot different around here--I have enjoyed having him here so much and not to mention, helping out with Isaac. He always helps me with bathtime so that might be a small adjustment...but, i can handle it. He has been a wonderful hands on father!

Here are a few pictures of the weekend. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

Moving...

Things have been super busy around here lately. We moved from our tiny two bedroom townhouse on saturday to our new rental home for the next three years. i can't even describe to you how much I am loving our new place! For the past year I have had to live with carpet in every room of the house, one bathroom, mouse traps and one dead mouse, mouse poop around my pantry, an open pantry for all to see, roaches, no space to put things....okay, okay...i know it could be A LOT worse but needless to say having a house again is such a relief.

We had a good move on Saturday even though it felt like 100 degrees outside that day. My dad let us use his big trailer so we loaded it down two times with the big stuff and used vans and trucks for the little stuff. Steven and I were able to get into the new house the day before to clean a little bit and boy am i glad we did! The people that lived here before us had three cats and one dog living in the house (no offense to people who have a lot of cats....but all i have to say is, nasty.) okay, so maybe i offended you. But to my credit--i had to vacuum this one guest room and empty the vacuum THREE times in that one bedroom because the vacuum was completely clogged with cat hair. i was pretty grossed out. Thankfully, our room had new carpet put in before we moved in and Sears came and cleaned the two other bedrooms the next morning. Other than the toxic cat hair, they left the place pretty clean and ready to move in.

So now I have been unpacking the house while taking care of a four month...almost five month old on saturday. FIVE months! I can't believe it! Where did the months go? Speaking of Isaac, he has been so much fun lately. His little personality is becoming more and more evident. I'm afraid he has a lot of me in him (hopefully he will just get the good stuff, not the bad). He talks a lot and when he does talk he is extremely loud. Hopefully he will be athletic because i don't think steven will let him set a foot on the stage. :) He is such a joy really. His smile can light up a room. He constantly has to be entertained--I think I may have said that in my last post. He loves when you sing to him or dance infront of him. Steven says I look like a crazy lady, but hey, it definitely entertaines him!

I'll put up pictures soon. Steven got a new computer today. Its amazing how much faster this little baby is! Maybe I'll write more from now on. I might even post some pics of the new place when I get everything a little more in order.

I'll leave you with this little story....
On Tuesday Kelly and Ryan (Steven's sister and brother-in-law) came to sit with Isaac while we went back to the apartment to get a few more things. Rowen went with us to help. While we were at the apartment it was over 90 degrees in the house and we were all sweating bullets. Rowen started talking to me (which is nothing new...he LOVES to talk and i love to listen). Here's how the conversation went.....

Rowen: Hey Kimmie. Can I tell you something?

Me: Yeah buddy.

Rowen: Are you glad you are in your new house and you don't live here anymore?

Me: Rowen you have no idea. I could not be happier.

Rowen: Yes Kimmie but you should be thankful that the Lord let you live in this little place for a while and you had a place to live.

Wow! I felt guilty for complaining all those times that year... and it was A LOT!! I should be more thankful for what I am given... What a sweet reminder from an eight year old.

DOCTOR Sprayberry

Whew! I'm tired. After reading this post, scroll down and you will find two more that I just finished. This is so not like me. Who knew posting could be so exhausting!

I'm too pooped to write, but without further delay I would like to introduce you to the newest doctor in the city of Birmingham! Dr. Steven Sprayberry!
Oh, Isaac wants to post something as well. "dada, gurgle gurgle. way to go! coo coo"

Congratulations Dr. Sprayberry!!! I am so proud of you!!!!!!

Florida Trip

We had a wonderful time going back to our old stomping ground in Bradenton, FL for Steven's graduation. We lived there for 3 years of our married life--three years of Steven attending med school, three years of me teaching at Bradenton Prep (hell on earth), three years of sunny skies, and three years of learning to be a couple on our own. All in all, it was such a precious time in our lives. Stressful at times with studies and teaching...but precious all the same.

It was so special introducing little Isaac to all of our friends there. It was so surreal having him there with us--we left Bradenton when I was only 8 weeks pregnant, which means no one could tell I was. And then going back with a baby and I am looking the same...okay, well not EXACTLY the same but getting there. We stayed with our next door neighbor and not to mention good friend, Nelda. She was the perfect hostess, but why am I not surprised. She did so much for us when we lived right next door.

We took Isaac to the beach a few times. I must say, he takes after his mommy getting fussy while hot and sweaty.:) He didn't enjoy it at times because the glare from the sun was so strong-- he had to keep his little eyes closed. Besides going to the beach a few times, we went to the pool, I did a little shopping at our fabulous outlet malls (ooohhhh, i miss them sooooo much!!!), and caught up with old friends. I even got to spend some time with two of my most favorite students-Justine and Marissa. Marissa made Isaac the most beautiful blanket. It meant so much to me!

Here are some pictures to remember our trip by:

Steven and I can't believe how fast our baby has grown! I feel like I was just holding him in my arms as a newborn watching him sleep. He's not sleeping that much anymore...:) But, I'm not complaining one bit--I wouldn't trade sleep for anything right now! Because he's such a growing boy I have been supplimenting formula a little bit at night before he goes to bed. I have just been breastfeeding until now (for all those that wanted to know that:)) but we decided to start him on rice and formula some. Tonight we tried feeding him from a spoon for the first time and it was a sight to see. Hilarious! It's so funny to me how we come out of the womb not knowing how to swallow naturally when a solid texture enters our mouth. We will try to feed him cereal one time everyday just to get him used to the stuff.

He is still not sleeping through the night. I am sure some of you "Baby Wise mothers" are shocked by that statement. ha! I put him down at 8 and he still tends to wake up around 2:30 or so wanting more food. And I know...I SHOULD let him cry I suppose...but to be honest, I guess I kind of enjoy those times with him in the wee morning hours. And I know that this will not be forever. No...I'm not going to go into his room when he is 14 years of age at 3 in the morning just to rock him.:) But, for now, I don't want to complain. This is such a sweet time, and like I said above...I wouldn't trade it for anything...

I leave you with a cute little video of Isaac's first feeding. Sorry it's sideways. I know how annoying that can be.

"ummmm...I'm not sure about this stuff Dad. It's very pasty..."
