October...

is almost over! And on to November...

hmmmm...what we've been up to lately.

I've been sewing....I finally learned how to sew on a sewing machine last week, so I decided to make pillow covers for the couch. I was please how they turned out however, I wish I had praticed a little first. Now that I know how to do it I could have put a ruffle or trim around the pillow...but oh well. I guess they will have to do like this. oh, the yellow one is from pottery barn so i didn't make that one.I finally finished the topiary trees. They turned out okay. I've seen prettier...:) but, they will do for now.We've been carving some pumpkins. Well, not really carving. Just sticking a apple corer in them and making poka dots.I've been making more wreaths. I thought I should have something on my front door and since I can't afford to buy one (the story of our lives right now) I just thought I would buy some dried flowers from good ole' hobby lobby for a few dollars. Maybe I can change out the ribbon and stick some red holly in it for christmas.We've done a lot of playing outside in the lovely fall weather.

Well, thats pretty much whats going on in our lives the past week. Of course besides cooking, cleaning, sleeping, hanging out with daddy when he's finally home, running errands, going to church, teaching drama kids, and watching bama football....

Little buddy will be 9 months in a little less than a week. He is acting so much older lately. Even his laugh is sounding older to me. He is scooting everywhere on the floor and loves to get on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. I have a feeling there will be some crawling taking place in the near future. Oh goodness....I better get prepared...

Thats all for now. Maybe I'll have something a little more interesting to talk about next time besides my home decorating. ha!

This video really touched my heart when I watched it for the first time a few days ago. I've already watched it three times and I STILL cry everytime!! :)

The Lord has been tugging towards my heart towards the idea of adoption one day and I have no doubt, unless the Lord has different plans, that Steven and I will adopt one day. We just don't know when...just getting through residency first.:) Besides my sister-in-law being a huge inspiration, and other families I know, this video made me really do some thinking. How BEAUTIFUL is the picture of adoption!!! What a perfect example of Christ adopting us....and I know we've all heard this before...but its oh so true.

The video is 10 minutes long...watch when you have time. This family with four kids of their own adopted a little girl from Africa this past summer. Oh, I just love it! Make sure you have your sound on!

8 months

This is about a week overdue...but better late than never I suppose.

Well, our little buddy, pumpkin, peanut, and sweetpea is a little over 8 months! Warning: here comes the typical mommy blog post saying; "I can't believe he is growing so fast!!" Okay, got that over with. But, seriously...its TRUE!!

His little personality is really showing lately and he is nothing but fun, fun, fun! He is finally sitting up on his own pretty well. Don't get me wrong, he still prefers to play on his stomach lifting up that big head like a turtle...but, he is definitely sitting up more. I don't see any crawling in the near future. But, who knows, he could change in a flash. I'm trying to count my blessing on the crawling--I know when that starts he will be EVERYWHERE!

Well, I guess I better put some things that my little baby loves at 8 months so they can be etched in my memory forever.:)

1. You love to jump and jump and jump in your jumparoo

2. You love to light up and laugh really hard when you see me in your crib after a nap

3. You love baby food!!! Pretty much anything....well, except avocado of course.:)

4. You love....I mean LOVE your doggie Major and scream one of those blood curling girly screams you do when you see him walking past (we have to teach you a more manly scream buddy)

5. The voice I love most of all from you is that sweet little high pitched voice you do when you are talking to yourself.

6. You are completely mesmerized by "Praise Baby." (thank goodness for that DVD)

7. You sleep 11-12 hours at night. thank you!

8. You love the songs "wheels on the bus," "she'll be comin' round the mountain," "be thou my vision"

Thats all I can think of for now. I guess 8 is perfect for 8 months.:)

We love you Isaac more than words can express!!

I was wrong about one thing, they were ALL cute despite his lack of smiles.
But, I was right about one thing, my hair did look quite frizzy due to the humidity.;) ha! oh well.

Oh, and excuse the mess on our table. I tried to make my cone topiaries today and so far they look pretty rough. I've lost some motivation...maybe my creative moss sytrofoam calling is restricted to wreaths. :(

No smile and a face plant

I had Isaac's pictures made yesterday morning at the Botanical Gardens. Fortunately, it didn't rain besides being overcast and extremely humid. I have been meaning to get professional pictures of Isaac for a while now and finally called and set up an appointment weeks ago. My goal was to get pictures made of his absolutely adorable gummy smile before he cut any teeth. No, he still doesn't have a tooth! And let me just remind everyone that this child of mine smiles ALL the time. He loves to smile, just like his daddy.

However, on this particular day I couldn't even get half a grin out of him. And I mean I did everything to make him smile....I sang the bonanza song over and over again. Trust me, right when he usually hears this he breaks out into the cutest little grin you have ever seen (thanks to Papa Spray and his ability to shake him so fast up and down while humming the tune). I sang "The wheels on the bus" a hundred times...again, ALWAYS gets a laugh at home. I sang "she'll be coming around the mountain"....i waved a alabama shaker infront of his face...I even tickled his feet. and NOTHING. you don't understand, this kid cannot NOT break out into hysterical laughter if I even touch his feet. So, I thought this would surely be the trick. But, he only pulled his feet back and gave me the most annoyed baby grunt I've heard from him in a while. I wanted to whisper in his ear..."ummm, buddy, do you not know that I'm paying someone to take your picture? I'm gonna need to see your gums a little bit, okay..."

The only time he would smile was when I would be holding him, and goodness knows I looked like a hot sweaty mess. Did I mention it was humid? So, my hair could not have been more wavy or fluffier.

Well, despite it all I think she did get some good shots of him. I mean, she had to because I LOVE her photography. I thought Isaac was definitely done half way through the shoot when he face planted into the ground. Bless his heart. The photographer had brought a cute little red chair for him to sit in for some of the shoot and poor little buddy is not that great at sitting by himself for too long. So...I watched in slow motion as my child slowing leaned too far forward and rolled off the chair and literally face planted into the ground. Luckily the grass was all skwooshy from the rain the night before. As I quickly picked him up trying to comfort his loud screams, his little face had dirt and grass all over it. It was so sad. I felt so bad for him!

Well, I've rambled enough about our photo shoot. I'll get the pictures back in two weeks to review so I'll be sure to put them up for all to see. Don't make too much fun of my frizzy hair.:)

Trip to Auburn

Isaac and I went to visit the grandparents this weekend in Auburn. I scheduled a day to get my hair highlighted (because it is cheaper there than in Birmingham) and we also went tailgating for the AU/Miss St. game. And don't you get fooled by these pictures! No suri bob! Just because you see me in a blue colored skirt and my son in a light blue football jon jon DOES NOT mean we don't love our Alabama football! But we were going to an Auburn tailgate and I had to look somewhat appropriate.... Actually, Steven said Isaac could wear a blue outfit or an orange outfit, but not orange and blue together. Don't worry folks, Isaac still bleeds red....i mean crimson :)

I was able to spend time with one of my best friends over the weekend, Jessica. She lives in Charleston, SC right now and we miss her terribly. Jessica, Katie, Joy, and I have been best buds from way back in our highschool days. Joy wasn't able to come this time.

Isaac enjoyed his first tailgate. He said the food was out of this world...although it was a little "watered down" he said. ;)

I felt old this weekend. Well, older. It seems like whenever I get back into a college environment I still remember like it was yesterday being at Alabama. But, I soon had a reality check. One, I asked my brother the first night we were there if I could pass for a college student if I went to his fraternity party with him that night. He responded with a curious eye scanning my face up and down...and simply replied, "No, maybe you could pass for a grad student." The key word here is maybe. maybe. awesome. Then, on Saturday my little sister who is a junior in high school brought a friend to the tailgate with her. As I was talking to this friend she continuously responded to all my conversational questions with a "yes mam." Ahhhhhh, the yes mam from older teens. Again...awesome.

No, but seriously. I'm perfectly fine with "growing up". :)

Gag reflex

Well, we definitely know Isaac's gag reflex works. I made more baby food today and bought an avocado for him to try--I've heard great things about babies loving avocado! Isaac has seriously loved everything he has put in his mouth.....until now. This video shows the 3rd time I tried to feed avocado to him. Excuse my laughter in the video...I promise I'm really not a mean mommy...but it was just so funny!

On a different note, we had people over to watch the Bama game Saturday night. We grilled wings and had a wonderful spread of food thanks to all the ladies that came. Steven has been so excited about this party for weeks now because he was determined to put one of our televisions out on the back patio and all the guys would watch the game outside while the girls watched it inside. However, when the rain started coming down on Saturday morning...and didn't stop...he had to make other plans. So, he then decided to set up his "man cave" (thats what I called it) in the garage and he put chairs out there for them to sit in. Andy brought his other t.v. because Steven wanted to set up two t.v.'s to get the Auburn game as well, but he couldn't get both stations. So they just set up two t.v.'s outside to watch the bama game. So, while the rain was coming down we had the garage door open and it was actually kind of pleasant...I was worried about the mosqitoes(spell??) all week and there wasn't any because of the rain.

We were happy to see Bama pull out a win....even though it was a pretty tight game.
